Arthur's Adventures IV

IV – Hello again. These are all from my last two days travelling west (therefore are the most westerly photos) and definitely include the nicest weather!

1. The view from near the peak of Mt Misen. This is a sacred mountain on Miyajima (an island off Hiroshima – you can see mainland Japan in the distance) which I climbed. My uncle told me that back in the day, it was forbidden by the gods to climb this mountain.

2. Taken on my progress up the mountain!

3. Miyajima, from the seashore. It’s such a scenic spot, and in a way I didn’t feel like I was in Japan. Still there's Japanese architecture, if you notice the stone lamps on the left.

4. A view out to sea. The boats on the right are the ones that ferry you from the Hiroshima area to Miyajima.

5. Leaving the port. The ride didn’t take long at all.

6. A view around the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima. Every year people gather here to remember what happened on August 6th 1945. I love the museums here.

7. As you can see from the next two, it’s really hard to imagine that this city was so devastated. Walking along the river, I think it was possibly one of my favourite places in Japan (if you look across the river, you can see two peeps with guitars).

8. More views of the river. Hiroshima is a huge city, but in a way, places like here give me the vibe of a town.
