Show Me Your Sketchbook Sunday

This stunning set is from Caroline (of Ergy Erg). I'm in lust and love with all of these and i'd like a giant version of the last on my ceiling.

Sketchbook one, sketchbook two , sketchbook three , sketchbook four , sketchbook five , sketchbook six & sketchbook seven. I would love to see your sketchbook, take six of more photos and send to hiven@live.co.uk.

This is sketchbook eight. I have no words for how surreal and amazing that feels.

I feel like i've had a productive week. Lots of photos (which I can't wait to show you), exploring, reading and on to a new hair colour. This week i'm going to be buying my first legal drink at a legitimate pub. My birthday's January 23rd. Health complications have stopped me before but not now. I'm very excited. I'm glad I can show you everything good that's happening, me improving and generally being able to feel more like "myself" again, the bad stuff isn't fun nor attractive.

Anyway. It's weird that it's August tomorrow. I haven't had my legs out nearly enough for it to be winter again.
Fingers crossed your first week of August's a good 'un.

Me Time

Sale's still on at Hivenj! Expect new items when it's over.

I was staring at my Age Of Reason scarf trying to think of a "unique" way to style it (for their styling competition) when I spotted my Lush wrap and decided on a bag (how to). It would've worked as a clutch type bag but i'm definitely more of a cross body bag girl. I recently bought this belt in a charity shop. I threaded the belt through just under the top knot and TAH-DAH, we have a bag with a strap. It's much more secure than I thought it would be, I've been using it all week and my contents haven't fallen out once.

This is my new Gap dress (decent photo of the neckline, here). It's super soft, maxi dresses are easy to wear and it was on sale, all win really. The heels are vintage (newly re-heeled, they were a little worse for wear) , Hivenj rings and Shopbop cuff. I promise to take more close-ups from now on.

A quick "shoutout" to lovely Philippa (of Cocoskies) for my new shop illustration and a little something else that I can't wait to post.

Outfit Post

dungas- vintage
backpack- RM via Shopbop
shoes- Gap
all jewellery- Hivenj (I still have a little bit of stock left from the sale, check it out )

Meet my new Rebecca Minkoff studded backpack. He (named ted of course) is beautiful. So beautiful that I keep casually smelling him. It's almost like smelling a new born but one that's made out of leather. That smell that you can't quite get enough of. If you do not know this smell, I feel for you. I'm not sure whether i've talked about these dungas before but they are definitely my favourite. A cheap find from etsy, they used to be full length but as soon as they arrived I chopped them off into shorts (under £10 including shipping). A sign of a good pair of shoes is that they clean up well. These are the shoes that I wrecked my foot in (full story here). They were covered in blood and yet, despite being canvas, with a bit of soap and a face wipe, they're now good as new. Also of all the things you could ruin a shoe with ,blood is not my first choice (sand and sea water). So really, it's an outfit of favourites. I've said more than I usually do about what i'm wearing, feel free to tell me to shush.

OH HEY

This lovely guy trundled over, nuzzled me and dropped his ball. I girlishly threw it into the river, he dashed to get it and brought it back. He looks just like my best friend's dog, rolo, whom's a very lovable dog (I was a 101% cat person before meeting rolo)

Happy nearly hump day! Today's been so much better than yesterday. I finished my book, The bitch goddess notebook by Martha O'connor, and I definitely recommend it (please don't be put off by the name). I'm on to a new book, nothing like that book, A year in Japan by Kate T Williamson and I already love it (lots of cute illustrations and blurb).
Lastly, thank you to all of my new followers. I love you more than rhubarb and custards. If you're an oldie thank you ,too, love you more than Haribo hearts.

Guess who...and what. It's from Shopbop (buying via the internet is less painful/frustrating/annoying with their free worldwide in three days or less shipping policy).

Show Me Your Sketchbook Sunday

This week's sketchbook comes from Kelly Rae Burns.
I love her series "Storybook Animals" (esp this one) more than food (check out her flickr for new stuff too).

Sketchbook one, sketchbook two , sketchbook three , sketchbook four , sketchbook five & sketchbook six. I would love to see your sketchbook, take six of more photos and send to hiven@live.co.uk.

On a slightly different note...
Twitter went crazy as soon as it was confirmed, Amy Winehouse's dead ( 27 club). The perfect description "a perfect storm of sex kitten, raw talent and poor impulse control. " Newsweek. It's awful but I hope it doesn't over-shadow what happened in Oslo. Over one hundred times more people died, they meant something to certain people. The world's a messed up place.

"Kids who listen to Dido and think 'I want to be like her', make me want to vomit."
Amy Winehouse
.

I hope you've had a lovely sunday, i've been basking in the sun.
Have a delectable week.

L-R Illamasqua eyeshadow in conquer , Like this perfume sample , Archives 69 perfume sample, Ciate nail varnish in speed dial used below, Xen-tan self tan and Weleda body oil

(Snippets of issue 6 of Trisickle)

Trisickle is the kind of magazine that will never date. They've been nominated for Best Print Publication '11 at the Scottish New Music Awards, vote HERE. The envelope alone is a prize winner.

This months' Glossybox definitely made up for last month's rather blah selection. The Weleda body oil is worth £20 (for the exact same amount). I'm impressed.
Happy friday!

Outfit Post

dress- stolen from mum, originally monsoon

I've reduced quite a few things in my shop (while stock lasts).

These were taken yesterday , lucky really, as today I'm not exactly looking my best. I wake up feeling awful, a few hours later i'm sick. I hate being sick. A lot. Vomit free since '93. Not to mention my multi-coloured bruised knees (colour blocking hell). The only thing that doesn't look too bad is my foot, which is healing nicely.

I made a big purchase the other day (with added guidance from lovely laura). I've been saving for something specific on shopbop for a while now, went to find it to show her and it was on sale! Ironically, it was my mum who persuaded me to get it. I will probably jump on the posty man that delivers it.

Me Time

I received an Age of Reason scarf as a gift from a friend recently. I did a bit of stalking and noticed on their blog that they are having a styling competition and the winner gets £500 worth of scarves. Um yes please. If I win, I will be decked out head to toe (kind of like Age of Reason's Grazia Fash Factor entry).
So , here's my entry. Three ways to wear an Age of Reason scarf...

1) A wrap top

(dungas& shoes- gap jewels- hivenj)
Hold out the scarf in front of you in a diamond shape. Fold the top half over a bit and wrap around you, then bow/knot at the back. I've worn it under dungas but you could simply wear it with shorts/on the beach as a cover up/at a festival/etc.

2) Head scarf

(dress- primarni shoes-gap all jewels hivenj)
Fold it up so you end up with a long rectangle. Wrap around head, bow/knot at the back and if needed, secure with bobby pins.

3) Belt

(dress- anthropologie shoes-gap backpack- vintage)
Same as two but around your waist instead.

I like to think i'm a scarf person, I have a small collection: a few to each leg of my dressing table but this scarf, it's scarf heaven (100% silk too). I could go on forever about how brilliant Age of Reason are , but above all, I adore their selection of prints. I always look out for scarves with unique prints and officially, Age of Reason have the best selection.

Show Me Your Sketchbook Sunday

A big thank you to Leilani Joy for these, to say they're special would be an understatement.

Sketchbook one, sketchbook two , sketchbook three , sketchbook four & sketchbook five. I would love to see your sketchbook, take five to eight photos and send to hiven@live.co.uk.

After receiving these images I went straight to the Leilani Joy's store and bought a print. How could I not (this original is so tempting).
I wish this feature could continue forever (it will really), it's so exciting to receive photos for it. Happy sunday!

Me Time

Outfit details here. Jewels- Hivenj (for 25% off just type "HIVENN" at checkout).

I met up with an old friend yesterday and it didn't exactly go to plan. Do note- of course I was wearing my giant gap wedges. So, i'm getting out of the car, took a few steps and fell. Didn't break my ankle or anything like that but my right foot was sliced open and still looks pretty bad (just avoided stitches). Yes i'm one of those girls that means people are going to tell you that your heels are too high. I know, i'm sorry.
I also spotted a bit of my blood on the pavement that looked like a strawberry.
The lesson to take from this?
Avoid falling on sharp objects.

I've never actually broken a bone.
I hope your week's going well. Because of above, I'm currently making a 'sorry i'm a clumsy idiot, thank you for not being' card.
